Valentine’s Day FREE Wreath

Today I’d like to share with you the wreath that we worked on, staying on our Zero Dollar Budget Challenge for Valentine’s Day.

This green styrofoam wreath was first used for Halloween, then Christmas/winter, and is now making itself useful for Valentine’s Day.  Hey, if it ain’t broke, keep on using it, ya know??!?

So for this, I gathered together:

  • red velvet ribbon leftover from Christmas Clearance 2011 ;)
  • cupcake liners
  • tissue paper
  • felt
  • washi tape
  • kitchen twine

So I began by wrapping the wreath with the ribbon, dabbing a bit of hot glue as needed as progress was being made.

I then made a few flowers.  Felt flowers using this tutorial here.

And tissue paper flowers using this tutorial.  Love them!

I then cut out the designs from the cupcake picks and glued them to my kitchen twine.  Hey, I’m using what I’ve got and that’s about as good as it was going to get, ok!?!

I then added some wash tape to the twine and glued that to the wreath.

And there you go.  My free Valentine’s wreath for 2013.  I know, you’re feeling the love, aren’t you?!?

  1. I love this! So many crafty things look nice, but have no longevity, or are just simply fancy looking trash (meaning it gets thrown away because it cannot be transformed or used again). Or, perfectly good, useful items are broken and torn apart to creat something cute, but fleeting. This however, is minimal in its resources. I love that you have reused the same wreath for each season/holiday and that much of what you made is paper and able to be recycled after you have gained maximum use out of the components. And, low cost to boot! I am truly impressed! Thank you so much for sharing.

    • Thank you for truly appreciating my cheapness, I mean, thriftiness. We should plan a blogger get-together soon! Hope your household is improving in health! I think we are finally starting to all feel ourselves…someone has been sick over here since the day after Christmas :(
